A portion of Pontius Road in Suffield and Randolph townships is set to be repaired thanks to joint cooperation between Portage and Stark counties.
The Portage County Engineer's office recently made an agreement with the Stark County Engineer to improve the joint maintenance section near the county boundary line.
Stark County's engineer took the lead on this project and is under contract with Melway Paving to do the improvement, according to Portage County Engineer, Michael Marozzi.
This project is scheduled to start on Tuesday, June 13 and will be completed within a month, Marozzi said. The work includes the resurfacing of Pontius Road from Congress Lake Road to Hartville Road.
Marozzi said Portage County office will pay for one-half of the improvement cost when the project is completed, amounting to $206,468.
According to Marozzi, the work included in this contract is to resurface about 1.9 miles of road with asphalt, grading and treating of roadway edges, and applying center and edgeline striping.
The public can expect some delays during the contractor's paving operations.
