The Queen of Hearts is on tour.
The drawing, which drew huge crowds to Sky Lane Bowling last year before one winner won a jackpot of more than $3 million, will take place in Ravenna this Sunday during a "downtown street festival" from 2 to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Activities will take place on East Main Street in the area of the Ravenna Area Chamber of Commerce, which is hosting the event.
East Main Street will be closed to accommodate the festival, said Ryann Kuchenbecker, executive director of the chamber.
The event will feature food, live music, beer and the famed drawings, with a maximum jackpot that currently sits at $237,541, with ticket sales ongoing up to the time of Sunday's drawing, said Aaron King, owner of Sky Lanes.
A 50/50 drawing also will benefit the Ravenna Area Chamber of Commerce. Tickets for both drawings are being sold at Sky Lanes in Garrettville as well as the chamber office, Bean and the Baker, DelCiello's Ristorante and Lounge, the English Pub and Print and Sign Express.
The drawings will take place at 6 p.m., with activities taking place beforehand, including festival food, live music and a beer garden, King said.
Kuchenbecker said people attending the festival will be encouraged to patronize local businesses, and businesses are being encouraged to stay open during the event.
King said last year, crowds at the festival overwhelmed the plaza where his business is located. That, he said, prompted him to hold drawings in Garrettsville only once a month out of courtesy to other businesses in the plaza.
Meanwhile, he said, he was approached by Ravenna and Kent to host drawings in their cities.
