A Franklin Township man is facing two felony charges after allegedly firing a gun during a fight inside a house on Cherry Lane.
The bullet from Billy M. Evans' handgun allegedly ended up inside a neighbor's closet, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.
Evans, 23, with a last known address of 6407 Cherry Lane, was arrested Friday night and charged with one count each of improper discharge of a firearm and felonious assault, both second-degree felonies.
Deputies said Evans brandished a firearm at a family member and said "he was going to end the ongoing altercation between the two" before firing a shot inside the house. The bullet ended up in the closet of a neighboring residence, according to the sheriff's office.
Evans posted $5,000 bond and was released from the Portage County jail following his arraignment Monday in Municipal Court.
He did not enter a plea to the charges, and additional or amended charges are possible once the case is presented to a grand jury.
Court records did not list an attorney for Evans.
