A Portage County man has been arrested in Indiana on an attempted murder charge after a fight outside a "gentleman's lounge" earlier this month.
Richard P. Harris, 46, with a last known address of 9015 Price Road in Streetsboro, allegedly got into his car and drove "recklessly" toward the victim, who police say showed off a firearm to Harris. Harris then rammed into the side of the victim's car.
The incident occurred in Lawrenceburg, a city of 5,000 in Dearborn County, Indiana on the Ohio River.
Responding officers reported that Harris appeared to be intoxicated and he was arrested and charged with attempted murder, a Level 1 felony; attempted aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony; criminal recklessness, a Level 6 felony, and operating while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor.
Bond information was not immediately available.
Harris has a history of drunken driving and violent behavior in Portage County. In October 2010, a grand jury indicted him on charges he assaulted two Streetsboro police officers who attempted to arrest him the previous March. After pleading guilty to four misdemeanors, Harris was sentenced in April 2011 to three years probation and fined $500 by Common Pleas Judge Laurie Pittman.
Harris also has multiple prior drunken driving arrests and convictions in Portage County, dating back to 1993 according to court records.
