The sexual assault of two girls numerous times over the past three years likely will put a Ravenna man in prison for a long time following his guilty plea in the case.

Michael D. Fowler, 54, remains in the Portage County jail on $2.5 million bond after he pleaded guilty last week in Portage County Common Pleas Court to three counts of rape, all first-degree felonies, and one count of gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony.

The rape charges carry a sentence of life in prison with the possibility of parole after 10 years, and the gross sexual imposition charge an additional one to five years in prison. Fowler also will be required to register as a sex offender.

He was indicted on Nov. 21 on sexual assault charges after a Portage County Sheriff's Office investigation determined he molested a girl earlier that month.

The investigation also determined that Fowler raped and molested another victim multiple times between June 2014 and November 2016, according to his indictment.
