A 21-year-old Akron woman was arrested June 28 and charged with three counts of theft, all first-degree misdemeanors, after allegedly stealing a total of more than $1,749 dollars worth of merchandise during three incidents at the Brimfield Walmart, 250 Tallmadge Road, on May 7, 15, and 31, according to Brimfield police.
Jesse J. Aliff, 33, of 25 Hartzell Road, North Benton, was arrested June 29 and charged with domestic violence, a fourth-degree felony, after he allegedly choked a female family member and threatened to punch her. The charge is a felony because Aliff was convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence in 2013 in Portage County Municipal Court, according to the sheriff's office.
A 19-year-old S.R. 183 man was arrested June 28 and charged with domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, after he allegedly hit a female family member with a bottle, causing her to believe that he would do her physical harm, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.
David J. Robbins, 34, of Akron, was arrested June 29 and charged with possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, after an officer allegedly seized less than a bulk amount of hallucinogenic psilocybin mushrooms from him, according to Garrettsville police.
Jeremy L. Jenkins, 36, of 9920 S. Chapel St., Windham Township, was arrested June 28 and charged with illegal uses of food stamps or WIC program benefits, a fifth-degree felony. Jenkins allegedly possessed an Ohio Direction Card belonging to someone else, according to Garrettsville police.
Dennis W. Haworth, 47, with a last known address of 2290 Hissom Lane, Franklin Township, and Timothy J. Casler, 31, with a last known address in Perrysville, were arrested June 28 and charged with one count each of theft from the elderly, a fourth-degree felony.
On June 17, Casler allegedly trespassed on private property in the 1100 block of Hudson Road and with Haworth, stole a John Deere lawnmower worth approximately $1,095 from an elderly male victim. Casler also is charged with breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony, while Haworth also was wanted on a warrant charging him with possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, for allegedly possessed methamphetamine on June 8 in the 2500 block of Brady Lake Road in Franklin Township, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.
Lorne E. Black, 42, of Norwalk, was arrested June 29 and charged with possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, after a trooper allegedly caught him in possession of approximately 1 gram of MDMA, the psychoactive drug also known as "ecstasy," "X" or "molly," according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Michael T. Hammond, 38, of Pickerington, was arrested June 29 and charged with one count each of trafficking in marijuana, a fourth-degree felony, possession of marijuana and aggravated possession of drugs, both fifth-degree felonies. Hammond allegedly possessed more than 200 grams but less than 1,000 grams of marijuana with the intent to sell it, along with unprescribed Xanax, in the area of Nelson Ledges Quarry Park on S.R. 282/Nelson Ledge Road, according to the Portage County Sheriff's Office.
