Sheriff's deputies on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old Freedom man and accused him of shooting at another man during a confrontation in Ravenna Township last month.
William D. Calhoun Jr., of 6466 Streeter Road, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony. Arraigned Thursday in Portage County Municipal Court in Ravenna, he was ordered jailed on 10 percent of $50,000 bond, according to court records.
According to a criminal complaint, on June 8 Calhoun -- who also goes by the name "Junie June," deputies said -- allegedly pulled a gun on a 43-year-old man during a fight in the 6500 block of Terrill Street and fired a single shot at him. The shot missed its intended target, according to the sheriff's office.
Ravenna police and sheriff's deputies searched for Calhoun on June 8 and June 9, but could provide no information on the incident at the time.
Calhoun previously was arrested June 22 by deputies who allegedly caught him with methamphetamine and a hypodermic needle in the 2800 block of S.R. 59, according to the sheriff's office.
