Portage County sheriff's detectives arrested a Nelson man Thursday for allegedly stealing money from his 87-year-old neighbor, knocking her down and breaking her hip in the process, during a robbery at the woman's home on Tuesday.

David A. Warner, 29, of 11511 S.R. 88 in Nelson, is charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony. Currently in custody at the Portage County jail, he will be arraigned today in Portage County Municipal Court in Ravenna, according to sheriff's detective Lt. Greg Johnson.

Sheriff's detectives conducted an investigation after the alleged home invasion in the 11200 block of S.R. 88, according to the sheriff's office.

Warner allegedly knocked down Bailey when she answered the door to her home at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Wearing a cloth over his face, he allegedly took an undisclosed amount of money from Bailey's purse and fled on foot.

Johnson said Warner knew Bailey, and had done "miscellaneous housework" at her home.

"She was familiar with him, and he was familiar with her," Johnson said. "The sad part is, if he had asked her for money, she probably would have given it to him."

Warner also is a heroin addict, Johnson said. After Warner left her home with the money, Johnson said, he went and bought heroin with it.

Bailey will remain hospitalized for several days before she goes to rehabilitation, Johnson said.

"She's in good spirits," he said.

Scumbags like this should be given the longest sentence possible, and he should be forced to work every day to pay for his keep in jail. Then he should get sh*** kicked out of him every year on the date of his crime for at least the next 3 years. This coward had to pick on an 87 year old.

This guy needs thrown in a cell with someone whose grandmother who recently passed. The lights should be turned off, preferably with no one around. That is justice for this POS.

Bought heroin? Nooooooooooooooooooo, see task force, it can be done! Answer this question, why are certain agents growing facial hair and trying to look the part when you guys use other drug dealers/c/i's to ATTEMPT to buy drugs or in Limberts case PROSTITUTES?

On another side note, I still see all those pretty police cars just sitting in a parking lot with no lights, sirens, radios... That Major "CHAOS" Kelly is a pretty smart guy. Sheriff Joke's right there with him for allowing the purchase.

"hey Sheriff, let's get the deputies some new guns, even though we can't afford the ammunition! C'MON MAN!
