Known for providing "excellent healthcare," Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna is rated as an excellent place to work. For the fifth consecutive year, the hospital was named one of the 99 best places to work in Northeast Ohio by the Employers Resource Council, the region's largest employers association.

"We are honored and pleased to have received this award, which recognizes why the hospital is such an attractive place to work, for five years in a row," said Stephen Colecchi, president and chief executive officer. "It reflects the dedication, talent and hard work of all our employees."

With 1,500 employees, the hospital is the second-largest employer in Portage County. The hospital competed against thousands of other eligible employers located within the northeast Ohio region covered by the Employers Resource Council.

Winning organizations must excel in benefits, diversity, compensation, health and safety, recruitment and retention, training and education, human resources strategies and employee communication. Judges look for organizations with quality customer service, passionate and empowered employees and community involvement.

"There is a culture of superior service excellence here," said Pamela Mackintosh, vice president of Human Resources. "Not only do we treat our patients with care and respect, that is how we treat each other. We hold each other to a higher standard and this creates an environment that is pleasant for work."

The NorthCoast 99 program helps serve as a model for regional economic development by helping organizations attract and retain excellent employees. This is the ninth year of The NorthCoast 99 program, which is the only regional award of its kind in the nation.

In addition to being one of the best places to work in Northeast Ohio, Robinson Memorial Hospital also was named the Division I Fittest Organization in Portage County for 2007 for the second year in a row. The hospital earned this honor following the Portage County Fitness Challenge sponsored by Medical Mutual of Ohio and Ravenna Parks and Recreation. The Division I category consists of employers with more than 201 employees.

More than 200 Robinson Memorial Hospital employees, volunteers and their families participated in at least one fitness challenge event this summer. Robinson took first place in the following events: Walk in the Park; Get Up, Get Going; 5K race; and 10K race.

"Healthier employees are happier and more motivated," said Human Resources representative Janet Rawlings.

There's lots of healthy stuff being said in this article by mindful people working everyday to "create an environment conducive to life and community." Kudos to one and all, from the Ceo to the volunteers!

I was on vacation recently and a group of Robinson employees just happened to be staying at the same condo complex. I was takin 5 poolside catching my breath from trying to keep up with my two eight years olds... anyway I overheard these Robinson employees talking - they didnt work in the same depts. and were not intimate friends back home - but they all spoke in nothing but positive terms regarding their employment with the hospital. It was obvious that each felt part of something worthwhile, that each had a part to contribute, and that each felt appreciated for their efforts. It was very refreshing to say the least.
So again to everyone in the Robinson community congratulations and keep up the good work.
