Harry Akers Longtime Ravenna resident, Harry Akers, passed away peacefully at 90 years of age in Cocoa Beach, Florida on Monday, January 28. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucille, and their children Jane and her husband Larry, Susan and Harry III, grandchildren Kelly and Christopher, of Orlando, and Mitchell and Geoffrey from Lyndhurst, Ohio. He is also survived by his sister Marge Sabin and her husband Bob. His sister Lois Akers who taught school in Ravenna for over 40 years preceded him in death. Harry, with his wife Lucille, owned and operated Harpers Men and Ladies Clothing Store in downtown Ravenna for 20 years. Harry loved Ravenna, his lifelong home, and he was a vital member of the business community. He was active in the Elks Club for over 60 years and was involved in the Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis and the Masons. Harry served his country in World War II. He especially enjoyed his friends at the Cookie Club in Ravenna. Lucille will be returning to Ravenna in May and would love to see Ravenna friends. (RC 02-01-08) Comments
