MANTUA " Starting on July 12, there will be a new location for the annual country market in downtown Mantua.
This summer marks the fifth anniversary of the Mantua Rotary Club's sponsorship of the Saturday morning country market. The club will kick-off the 2008 season on the grounds of the historic Mantua Train Station.
The market will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon on the second and fourth Saturdays during the months of July, August, September and October. Vendors can rent booth space for $24 for the entire season.
For vendors who are unable to staff their own booth, the country market offers a unique option; Rotary Club members will man the booth for them.
The charge for this service is $48 for the entire season and includes the rental charge for the space. Space is also available under either program on a weekly basis.
The country market is the perfect place to "buy local" and fill your market basket with fresh, quality grocery items.
In the past, vendors have provided a wide array of locally grown produce, baked goods, jams, vinegars, honey, eggs, maple products, candy, flower arrangements, fresh beef and poultry.
Many talented crafters and artisans from the area also offer beautiful boutique and gift items such as stained glass, quilts, birdhouses and jewelry.
The Rotary Club is seeking new vendors for the 2008 season. Those interested in participating in the market can contact Virginia Goodell at (330) 274-2376 or Suzi Heintzelman at (330) 760-0835.
Heintzelman, one of the market organizers, said they are looking forward to the kick-off of this summer's event.
