Update from the competition:

It was a lighter, not a cell phone. But either way, you want pick up something you dropped, then pull off to the side of the road first.

This was not a "Crash", "Accident", "Operator Error" or "Mechanical Failure". This was GROSS NEGLIGENCE on the part of Mr. Masterson.

What message was so important to Mr. Masterson and his Girlfriend as too cause so much destruction in other peoples lives ?

What right do they have to effect anyone's lives, let alone too sentence strangers to an altered and painful life ?

He knew he should not have his head down texting while driving, she knew he was driving. No excuses, we are not their parents, we are their (and people like them) potential victims.

Make no mistake, this is not the first close call Mr. Masterson has had doing this sort of thing. He just got away with it before, and did not correct his behavior.

How is Mr. Masterson and his Girlfriend going to make this right ? Certainly not by the pitiful 6 month sentence that is expected.

Literally a Hundred people are directly effected by Mr. Masterson and his Girlfriends actions and that doesn"t even include the victims friends. Who is going to pay the Victims bills, retain their jobs, take care of their family obligations, their homes, parents, children, pets, ect...ect...ect

Will Mr. Masterson and his Girlfriend suffer the anguish of the victims lifelong pain ? Will they be there during rehab ? Will they be there to carry things for them when they cannot ? Can they run and jump for them ?

A CRASH is something that happens while your alone. An ACCIDENT is usually caused by OPERATOR ERROR or MECHANICAL FAILURE.

For these offenses you receive 6 months.

For GROSS NEGLIGENCE that causes life changing effects, near death, a coma and multiple dismemberments you should receive LIFE.

The same sentence they have summarily executed on their victims.

Haven't seen any updates in the paper as to how everyone is doing. It appears from these posts that Theresa has many great people supporting her. I'm still in shock over this and can't imagine the long list of recovery these people will endure. Anybody have an update on how some of them are doing? Thoughts and prayers to all!

My father in law Geff and his girlfriend Teresa were involved in the crash on 7/12/08. Geff's daughter Erika and myself have set up donations for Teresa at Doyles Drive Thru's in Barberton on Wooster Rd, Kenmore on Wilbeth Rd and Akron on Triplett Blvd. Also an account has been opened at First Merit Bank and Fifth Third Bank for Teresa. We are also planning a spagetti dinner to help raise money. The date of that event will later be announced. ANY donations will be appreciated. We are praying for those injured and their families. Thank you............Shanna

I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all of Theresa's wonderful friends who have come to see her, gone looking for her purse, been there for her at all hours of the day and night to help her get through this. She is truly blessed to know so many caring people that will stand by her side through this long recovery period. She will need each and every one of us - as will her mom - to get through this. To Scooterspit69 - we, her cousins and family - want to make certain that we are doing all we can to help her, Jeff and the other victims of this terrible accident - for all of us "non-bikers", we would like to know about the benefits, poker runs, etc. How do we get in touch with you? Again, a huge THANK YOU to all of you - YOU ARE WONDERFUL FRIENDS. Our thoughts and prayers to all of the victims and their families.
