Michael P. Ribar, 68, of Kent, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2008 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Michael was born to parents Thomas and Lauretta Ribar of Cleveland. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Judy, in 1961, and together they gave life to three children, Melinda, Michael, and Christopher. He loved his wife and children dearly, made many difficult sacrifices for them and loved spending time with them and his grandchildren, especially at the beach. Michael received his diploma from the Cleveland Institute of Art, followed by a BA and then Masters in Art Ed from Kent State University. He taught art and ceramics at all grade levels including college, and made exquisite pieces of pottery for many years. He also excelled in the business of residential and commercial relocation, finishing his career as a relocation manager with Atlas Van Lines in Canton, Ohio. He made lifelong friendships with clients, who recognized that he always listened closely and truly cared that the business of moving inanimate objects was completed with a caring and personal touch. He was an inspiration of strength and perseverance and will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife, Judy (Parent) Ribar, who cared for him day and night until the end; daughter, Melinda (Michael) Mullin of Green; sons, Michael (Erin) of Huber Heights and Christopher (Amy) of Washington Twp, MI; seven loving grandchildren; brothers, Thomas (Kay) and Joseph (Elaine); and many nieces and nephews. Finally, a warm and heartfelt thank you to the 2 East staff at Robinson Memorial Hospital, RMH Visiting Nurse and Hospice, and Regency Hospital, who cared for him during his many admissions. Viewing will be held at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home, 628 West Main St., Kent on Wednesday 8/27 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Requiem Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, 2935 Chenowith Rd, Akron, Thursday 8/28 at 11am followed by burial at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. (RC 8/25/08) Comments
