BRIMFIELD "Police Chief David Blough said the Code Red system used to alert area resident's about Saturday's fire on Holiday Drive is a "fantastic tool for safety forces."
The system, run by an independent company, takes information both from public telephone listings and telephone listings submitted by residents of the township and can warn them not only of emergency situations in the area but also impending severe weather, Blough said.
"Anytime a storm warning is issued for Brimfield, you'll get an automatic call on your house or cell phone," he explained. "Those with unlisted numbers can opt in, and you can include as many telephone numbers "home or cell "as you want, so you could be contacted about incidents in Brimfield even when you aren't home."
Residents who are not already signed up for the program may do so by visiting the township's Web site, www.brimfieldohio.com, and clicking on the "Code Red" link.
For those without Internet service, Blough said, you can register by calling the police department at (330) 673-7716 and leaving your information.
