BRIMFIELD "The Ravenna Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a crash Monday on Lynn Road that killed a 41-year-old Brimfield man.
Ronald O. Starks, of Lawndale Drive, was transported from the scene of the crash to Akron City Hospital by the Brimfield Fire Department. Starks was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
The crash, which occurred shortly before 2 p.m., involved a motorcycle driven by Starks and a pick-up truck. The driver of the truck, Jason C. Arana, 37, of Meloy Road in Brimfield, was not injured in the crash, nor was a toddler that was a passenger in his vehicle.
According to the patrol, the crash occurred in the 1800 block of Lynn Road, southeast of Sherman Road.
The patrol said a preliminary investigation shows Starks was traveling northwest on Lynn Road at what witnesses said was a "high rate of speed." Arana was traveling southeast on Lynn Road in the pick-up when he attempted to make a left turn into a residential driveway. As he turned, the patrol said, his truck collided head on with Starks' motorcycle.
Starks was ejected from the bike as it veered off the right side of the roadway and entered an area of thick overgrowth.
Brimfield fire officials, as well as Brimfield police, responded to the scene with the patrol.
The patrol said Starks was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Also, the patrol said, Arana was wearing a seat belt and the toddler in his vehicle was properly buckled into a child safety seat.
The crash remains under investigation at this time and no charges have been filed.
This is the 10th fatal crash in Portage County in 2008 and the third traffic fatality this year involving a motorcycle.

I have known Ron since I was about 16. I to first met him in Black Hawk Dynasty. He had a great laugh, and always just wanted to make you smile. He never lost that charm, you just wanted to talk to him cause he was such a fun person.
As it turned out years ago he started working the same place my husband did and they to became friends. Its always so sad when someone so full of life passes on, and leaves behind so many.
As for the members we have lost from the Drum line of Black Hawk Dynasty. Greg, Ron and Eddie. There isn't a happy memory I have from growing up that one of you wasn't part of. For that I thank you. Your memory lives on in so many.

My dearest Roxanne, Shane, Shanea, & Shamone
My heart is aching just seeing you go through this most terrible time. Ron was a wonderful man and with the memories that you have of him these past 13-14 years hold them dear to your heart. I also want to say that Ron knows how much he meant to you all, The life you had together with the family meant so much to him. He had a wonderful outlook on life and lived it to the FULLEST!! I'm so glad that we had one last FAMILY Picnic with him Sunday. He always LOVED playing horse shoes or just sitting around playing cards with the Brothers (in-law) it won't ever be the same with out him. With the pictures and home movies we will have you always close to our hearts...
and to the Starks Family May Ron rest in peace!!

I have known Ronald for as long as I can remember! We spent many years in the Black Hawk Dynasty together, traveling to many different places and when you spend so much time with people, you really get to know them! He would have done anything for anyone if you were ever in need. All I can say to Ronald is "Salt and Pepper are back together" You and Greg rock on!!! Ronald, I will really miss you and you guys be ready, because one day we will jam out again!!
As for you simplematter, you are right, everyone's destiny is already set, and I pray for you. For anyone that has the ignorance as you do, we can only imagine the judgment that has been set for you! To have nothing better to do than sit at your computer and talk bad about anyone that has done wrong and has died due to an unfortunate accident...I don't even know what to say, you yourself are the most rude and unsympathetic person that I have ever heard of! Anyway, what goes around comes around!
