BRIMFIELD "The Ravenna Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating a crash Monday on Lynn Road that killed a 41-year-old Brimfield man.
Ronald O. Starks, of Lawndale Drive, was transported from the scene of the crash to Akron City Hospital by the Brimfield Fire Department. Starks was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
The crash, which occurred shortly before 2 p.m., involved a motorcycle driven by Starks and a pick-up truck. The driver of the truck, Jason C. Arana, 37, of Meloy Road in Brimfield, was not injured in the crash, nor was a toddler that was a passenger in his vehicle.
According to the patrol, the crash occurred in the 1800 block of Lynn Road, southeast of Sherman Road.
The patrol said a preliminary investigation shows Starks was traveling northwest on Lynn Road at what witnesses said was a "high rate of speed." Arana was traveling southeast on Lynn Road in the pick-up when he attempted to make a left turn into a residential driveway. As he turned, the patrol said, his truck collided head on with Starks' motorcycle.
Starks was ejected from the bike as it veered off the right side of the roadway and entered an area of thick overgrowth.
Brimfield fire officials, as well as Brimfield police, responded to the scene with the patrol.
The patrol said Starks was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Also, the patrol said, Arana was wearing a seat belt and the toddler in his vehicle was properly buckled into a child safety seat.
The crash remains under investigation at this time and no charges have been filed.
This is the 10th fatal crash in Portage County in 2008 and the third traffic fatality this year involving a motorcycle.

This is still extremely difficult to accept but I know Ronnie died doing what his loved. That bike was his world. I've known him four years and me, him, and the guys would be out there tearing up the streets; what we love to do! You could always see the passion in his eyes. We'd always end up waiting for him to be late and stop 5,000 times to get redbull or rockstar but we loved it. His laugh was so contagious and the way he could always make us happy was just amazing. Riding will never be the same without him, Rev'n Ron, speedy Pete, cookie monster, lil scrappy, all the names we made for him. Love you man!

Ron was always a very nice guy to me. I have known him for nearly 20 years. He always greeted me with a friendly smile. He could be a heck of a funny guy, too. Rest in peace Ron.

If the people looking up public records bothered to check both persons involved, they would have found a bad driving history for both parties involved. Lets not point the finger. Ron was a great man who is now with god. He died doing what he loved. He was a family man with values. Honor him, respect him. We will miss you Ron! We will be praying for you.

Simplematter...seriously, who are you!!??? Besides a cold hearted, bitter person. I laugh, because I sit here picturing you with nothing better to do, but read a paper, a paper which is never right half of the time, and then you took a mans name from an article and probably searched his court records!! Please, get a life!!! I bet you have someone in your family who has not always done right, and how would you feel if something happened to them tomorrow? How would you feel if you got on here and saw all this cold hearted nonsense? Think before you speak!! This poor man is dead, and this entire family is left to deal with this...my God, I think of his poor parents, losing a child. I couldn't even imagine how that must feel!! And his brothers and sisters.....and the entire family!! My heart goes out to all of you!! Ron was a good guy, always treated me well. I can remember the last time I saw him, which was some 10 years ago or so....and I remember his smile, his laugh, and how he could make people laugh and just have a good time!! May all of you and there are alot of you, and might I mention, such a wonderful family... find peace and comfort through all of this. May God be with each and every one of you!! And may Ron rest in peace!
