The annual leaf pickup program for the city of Ravenna will start on Oct. 20 in Ward 1, then move through the city's other wards in order until early December. Ravenna Service Director Don Kainrad said there will be no brush pickup after next week as crews will be busy doing leaf pickups. Also, he said, residents are asked not to use paper bags for leaves as the city will not be distributing them during the leaf pickup program. Kainrad said all leaves for pickup must be raked to the edge of the curb in loose piles. Leaves will not be picked up if mixed with tree limbs or debris. Residents also are asked not to rake leaves into the street as it may cause clogging of storm drainage systems and create a serious flooding problem if there are heavy rains. Kainrad also asked residents wanting to have leaves picked up not to park in front of those leaf piles. Anyone with questions or concerns is asked to call the city's street department at 330-296-3114. Comments
