The Fashion Student Organization, American Institute of Architecture Students and the Interior Design Student Collaborative will unite to produce the annual Beaux Arts Ball at Kent State University.

This year's show, "Salvage," will be held on Friday at the KSU Ballroom in the Student Center and will be entirely "green-inspired."

Kent State interior design and architecture students will set the mood with structural designs and décor made from recycled materials. Members of the Fashion Student Organization will be challenged to design garments created from recycled materials, including plastic, metal, paper, deconstructed garments and organic materials.

Local businesses and recycling centers are donating items to be used in the student designed garments and structures. The fashion show will be judged by two professors from the Shannon Rodgers and Jerry Silverman School of Fashion Merchandising and Design and a local "green" activist.

The doors open at 8 p.m. and the fashion show starts at 10 p.m. The event also will feature music, finger food and a cash bar. A dance will be held following the show.

"Salvage" is open to the public, but space is limited. Tickets cost $10 and will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. now through Friday on the second floor of the Kent State Student Center or at the door.

Proceeds from the event support the Fashion Student Organization, the American Institute of Architecture Students and the Interior Design Student Collaborative. These organizations offer members career lectures, industry-related trips and student scholarships.
