 »  May's 911 call to Stow police

Dispatcher: Stow Police?
Dennis May: Ah, yes, um, can you please send a police car over to my house?
Dispatcher: OK, what's the problem?
May: Um, I just need someone to talk to.
Dispatcher: About?
May: I'm just having some problems.
Dispatcher: OK, what's your last name?
May: May. M-A-Y.
Dispatcher: First name?
May: Dennis. D-E-N-N-I-S.
Dispatcher: OK Dennis, you're gonna have to tell me a little bit about what's going on before I send somebody out there.
May: Um, I'm the teacher in Hudson that you may have seen on the news.
Dispatcher: Um, I'm not familiar.
May: OK, well, I've been accused of something and then my job is in jeopardy and ... (trails off).
Dispatcher: OK, and what, what are you feeling? What are you doing?
May: I'm not feeling very well, so ... (trails off).
Dispatcher: Um, what are you telling me?
May: I think you probably get the idea, so (pause), so please send someone over who can handle, handle this situation. And it doesn't have to be right away.
Dispatcher: Do you have any alcohol or drugs?
May: No, huh-uh.
Dispatcher: Guns?
May: Ah, just a gun is all I have.
Dispatcher: And where's it at?
May: It's in my hand right now.
Dispatcher: OK.
May: Um, I'll be in the garage and the front door is unlocked, but I'll open the garage door, too.
Dispatcher: All right, I want you to stay on the phone with me "til I get somebody there.
May: No, I need to go now. OK?
Dispatcher: No, I need you to stay on the phone with me, Dennis.
May: I know, I know. You're gonna try to help me, but I ... (trails off)
Dispatcher: I wanna help you.
May: I, I'm very sorry that you get, that you're the one taking this call.
Dispatcher: Dennis, please?
May: No, I'm sorry.
Dispatcher: Dennis?
May: OK, so please send what, someone over (trails off as dispatcher interrupts)
Dispatcher: Dennis, please stay on the phone with me.
May: Thank you, goodbye.

911 calls are a matter of public record.

whatever happened to Privacy Laws?? Somehow i think posting this call should violate rights somewhere.. I do not condone what May did but just what is the purpose of posting this in the paper? It saddens me that just because the man was a schoolteacher the media would publish this. I am sure this is NOT what his family wanted to see posted on the front page of the paper after loosing their loved one. His final words should not be made public in a mockery such as this just because he was accused of a crime . I don't know who should be more ashamed 911 for releasing this or RC for printing it ...

I have read both this story and the 'Headline' story. I am appalled at some of the commentary being said. Mr. May guilty or not has/had rights too, he took his own life, some may say it's a cowardice act. I will not comment on this, and no one else should either because the accusation didn't happen to you. Wear his shoes for a moment and think what you all would do, if the same thing happened to you. I don't think you'll like it.

Now, if this accusation is found to be true, then so be it. But, if it's found out that this child is lying, he/she will be facing very serious charges from the local DA, again enough said about that.

Again the eagerness of all you that jumped on the 'Glad he's Dead' wagon, I feel nothing but disdain towards you. I hope you get the help you dearly need. Again, just think if that child lied about this what will you say to yourselves and how will you think and react.

whoever you are this is to let you know that i have made my amends and do not rejoice in other peoples deaths in anyway. my skeletons are neatly hanging in a small closet for anyone to see. come take a look, and yes i can finally look in the mirror. seven and a half years of continuous sobriety does that for a man.
