Robinson Memorial Hospital: Foundation awards scholarships ... Seven children of employees to receive funds for collegeJuly 1, 2009
The Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation recently awarded seven scholarships to children of employees of Robinson Memorial Hospital and Robinson Health Affiliates Inc. Awards presented include five $1,000 scholarships from the Peter F. Chen, M.D., Medical Staff Scholarship; one $1,000 scholarship from the Delbert and Marcella Shilling Scholarship; and one $1,000 scholarship from the Dr. Steve and Patti Dean Scholarship. The Ravenna Rotary Club Scholarship Committee selected the scholarship recipients. Recipients of the Peter F. Chen, M.D., Medical Staff Scholarship are Megan Derthick, Katie Mitchell, Justin Orashan, David White and Emily Zito. Megan Derthick, a 2009 Newton Falls High School graduate, is the daughter of Mark Derthick of Newton Falls. Mark is a registered nurse at Robinson Memorial. Megan will attend Youngstown State University to study chemistry and pre-pharmacy. Katie Mitchell, a 2009 graduate of Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent, is the daughter of Stephen and Carolyn Mitchell of Kent. Carolyn is a medical social worker for Robinson Visiting Nurse and Hospice. Katie will attend the Honors Tutorial College at Ohio University to study political science. Justin Orashan, a 2009 Theodore Roosevelt High School graduate, is the son of Allan Orashan and Gayle Bentley of Kent. Gayle is the home care manager for Robinson Visiting Nurse and Hospice. Justin will study mechanical engineering at The University of Akron. David White, a 2009 Ravenna High School graduate, is the son of Dave White and Sharon White of Ravenna. Sharon works in registration at the Robinson Imaging Center at Kent. David will study sports administration at Kent State University. Emily Zito, a 2009 Walsh Jesuit High School graduate, is the daughter of Anthony and Antoinette Zito of Solon. Antoinette is a registered nurse at Robinson Memorial. Emily will attend Ohio University to study business. Gregory Knapp, a 2007 Waterloo High School graduate, will receive the Delbert and Marcella Shilling Scholarship. Knapp is the son of Rick and Susan Knapp of Atwater. Susan is a registered nurse at Robinson Memorial. Gregory is attending Kent State University, where he is pursuing a degree in education. Heather Hyslop will receive the Dr. Steve and Patti Dean Scholarship. Heather is the daughter of Bill and Barb Hyslop of Windham. Barb is a registered nurse and admissions coordinator for Robinson Visiting Nurse and Hospice. Heather is attending Kent State University's Trumbull Campus, where she is studying nursing. The Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation was established in 1985 to raise financial support for a number of patient care areas.
