A 36-year-old Ravenna Township man was killed after he lost control of his motorcycle in Rootstown early Wednesday evening.
Kelly Brewster, of 3222 Brady Lake Road, was killed in the crash after he lost control of his 2007 Suzuki motorcycle while driving westbound on Herriff Road just after 5 p.m.
Trooper Cory Harris of the Ravenna Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said the crash is under investigation.
“Upon approaching a sharp left curve in the road, (less than a half-mile north of Sandy Lake Road) he attempted to reduce speed, slid and went off the right side of the road,” Harris said. “He overturned and struck a tree as he was ejected (from the motorcycle).”
Brewster was wearing a helmet, and there were no other vehicles involved.
“Witnesses saw him traveling up and down the roadway, and reported he was a traveling at a high rate of speed prior to the accident,” said Harris. He said there is a 15 mph caution sign at the location of the crash.
Brewster was transported by the Rootstown Fire Department to Robinson Memorial Hospital, and was later transported to Akron City Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The toxicology report is pending.
With the onset of the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Harris said he wants to warn motorists to drive with caution and to obey traffic laws.

Kelly was friend and co-worker of mine. To see an unprovoked attack is unforgivable. He was an honest, caring, fun loving, hard working and God feering family man. I already miss our conversations.
God speed my friend.

Kelly was my brother-in-law, he is deeply missed. There is family left that needs your prayers. He had a beautiful wife and three amazing kids that loved their daddy more than anything. Kelly was the kind of guy who was always happy, and had the biggest smile on his face, that you couldn't help but smile with him. We will miss him so much. Life will never be the same now that he is gone. We do know he is in heaven and is at peace now. I love you Kelly and we miss you already.

My prayers go out to the family, far to many this season.
God bless you and your family as you deal with your loss.
I lost my dad to a bike accident so I know that can be tuff. He was killed by a drunk driver so people senseless comments can hurt.

You are right Happygirl. Before the judging "I am not a bad guy". They will never really know what happened. Without a serious reconstruction, and even then it is pretty much speculation. I know a guy that was in a motorcycle accident and because he bike was faced a different way then the direction in which he had been traveling, the officer on the scene said he was doing a U-Turn. Then said he was traveling at a rate of speed of 35 mph. I don't know many people that will do a U-Turn at 35mph in a car, much less on a motorcyle. He wasn't doing either thing. The point being, the only person that will truly know what happened, is the victim himself. God rest his soul. Condolences to the family and friends.

To the first person to comment this story, you are unbelievably ignorant and a disgrace to Ravenna. To talk like that about someone is just wrong. Kelly was my sons baseball coach and one of the nicest people you will meet. So people say he was riding fast, the fact is you have NO IDEA what happened so for you to make a comment like that is mind blowing. Kelly had a wife and 3 kids that meant the world to him...he would never intentionally put himself in that type of position so unless you know the WHOLE TRUE story keep your mouth shut. My thoughts and prayers are with Jamie and the kids....RIP Kelly, you were a great man.

Lots of bad karma coming your way poster #1. Kelly and I were co-workers back in the 90's. I didn't realize it back then, but he was just a kid in his early 20's and the rest of us were older than him...myself by ten years. He was a dedicated worker and an all around great guy. he only had two kids back then, and they were his world. We're all human and make mistakes, Kelly paid with his life. I don't understand how some people can be so judgmental to say such **** about him.
All I can say is I knew Kelly and he was a great guy.
RIP Kelly. My prayers are with his family.

Only in Podunk POORtage county would someone be so ignorant! I am sure that "I am not the bad guy" has never engaged in risky behavior. Perhaps he could write a book and enlighten us all on ALL the things to avoid to live a safe, worry free life.

Too often people speak without thinking.
This man had a family, wife, children, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews I am sure they are not glad that he was killed.
The last thing they need at this time is someone ignorant coming on here showing how uncaring and heartless they can be.
How about thinking your thoughts through before posting what if it was you?
