December trial for Ravennan accused of drowning rabbits

Liz Carlisle, a Ravenna resident accused of drowning rabbits at a Chapel Hill Mall pet store in Akron, will stand trial on two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 15 in Akron Municipal Court.

Carlisle, her parents and defense attorney Ron Gatts appeared for a pre-trial hearing at the downtown Akron courthouse Thursday. Carlisle, 20, previously had entered a plea of not guilty to two counts of cruelty to animals — one for each rabbit she is accused of drowning. Carlisle no longer works at the pet store, according to published reports.

She was charged after appearing in a photo on the Facebook.com social networking Web site holding two dead rabbits that allegedly were euthanized by drowning because they were injured.

Good one AP.

If that is the case I am looking at 15-20 hard time without posibility of parole.

FYI - If you google "Sea Kittens" you will discover that the PETA nuts want to rename fish as "Sea Kittens".

What a bunch of Kooks!!

Amazing how the girl holds up the rabbits and poses for a picture, and everyone assumes that she killed them. Could it be possible that another co-worker drowned the rabbits and she simply posed with the dead hares?

When is PETA going to start going after fishermen? Look at the dead fish they pose with.

MyGirl-
The "crime" happened in Summit; Vigliucci has nothing to do with it. But I support your sentiments.

Somebody needs to send this URL to PETA and HSUS so they know that we critter-eating Portagers are insufficiently unreasonable.

Mr. Viglucci,

If you read this blog, please stop this madness and let this girl get on with her life. I do not know the girl and my interest in only in how you are spending my tax dollars. There has to be something in your dockets that is worthy of taking the place of this circus. I have generally supported you with a few judgement exceptions, but this one is way out in left field to me as a tax payer. Please drop these charges if this girl decides to get some short term counseling or something. The public humiliation for her and embarrassment is enough and needs to stop before it goes too far.

Please apply a "standard or reasonableness" to this.

I had a moth fly into my car when I was on my detour around Diagonal Road. I had to set it free at the corner of Munn and Washington St. I hope peta can find it before it eats a tree. I had to cut down an ash tree in my yard because of a moth. Just think if Diagonal was open that would have never happened.

While I did pose the question on post #14, I would like to clear up that I'm not a PETA person. I know that no one has labeled me of that, but to make the statement before they do. The reason I asked the question is to possibly get the other side of the story that maybe there. Could it be that the cries of these bunnies were too much to bear? I don't believe in cruelty to anything. But like someone said, I hunt does that make me cruel?

At any rate, they have made such a big issue out of this. This young girl will be scarred for life. Unless she is sadist, this has gone too far. She will be paying for this for the rest of her life. Sad.
