The annual luncheon meeting of the First Settlers of Portage County recently was held at the Strickland House at the Portage County Historical Society in Ravenna. New members included Debora Rose, Charles Springston Jr., Gary Springston and Georgianne Bigam. The luncheon was followed by a program by Roger Marble of the Ohio Genealogical Society on early Portage County history. Chatting after the meeting are, from left, Rose, Marble and Jackie Woodring, chairperson. First Settlers is a part of the Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society. The group welcomes visitors and guests to its meetings held on the third Saturday of September, November and January through May, at the historical society.
