men- schneider, age 74, a lifelong Rootstown resident, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2009, at his home. He was born February 10, 1935, in New Milford, Ohio, a son of the late Ralph and Flora (Fox) Riemensch- neider. Russel retired from GenCorp/Omnova in Mogadore after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Rootstown Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years, serving as Fire Chief for 17 years. Russel enjoyed gardening, flowers, watching sports, and going to flea markets. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, who affectionately called him Papa. Survivors include his children: Julie (Dave) Timura of Paris Twp., Richard (Bev) Riemenschneider of Diamond, Debra Riemen- schneider of Rootstown, Gary (Robin) Riemen- schneider of Rootstown; brothers: Paul Riemen- schneider and Elmer (Shirley) Riemenschneider both of Rootstown; sisters: Blanche (Carl) Taylor, Freda Riemenschneider, Norma Sands all of Rootstown, and Hazel McEwen of Randolph; also survived by 11 grandchildren, 2 great- grandchildren, and his mother-in-law: Clara Hartzell of Deerfield. He was preceded in death by his wife Ellen Riemen- schneider, and his sisters Bertha Shull and Mable Lansinger. Friends will be received Thursday, November 5, 2009, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Wood-Kortright- Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services will be officiated by Pastor Jody Hill on Friday at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown.
