The Portage County Health Department will host a free vaccination clinic for groups at high risk of contracting the H1N1 or “swine flu” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the Ravenna Elks Lodge, 776 N. Freedom St. Pregnant women, caretakers and household contacts of infants under 6 months old, people 6 months old to 24 years old, people 64 years old and younger who have chronic health conditions, health care and EMS workers with direct patient contact are encouraged to get the vaccine. Attendees will be screened for eligibility. To decrease wait times, families with children will have their own line. Individuals will either be offered the nasal spray version of the vaccine or a shot. To pre-register, visit the Ohio Department of Health Web site at www.h1n1vaccine.odh.ohio.gov.
