At this season of Thanksgiving, the members of Change Hunger of Portage County extend our grateful appreciation to all the participants in this year's Make a Difference Day food drive. More than 10 tons of food, 21, 731pounds, were collected for the nine emergency food cupboards, five hot meal sites and two shelters that belong to Change Hunger. This food, along with more than $700 in cash donations, will help feed hundreds of people in our community who need a helping hand in these trying times. Our needs are dramatically increasing as more and more families and individuals face financial hardship. This year's 11th anniversary drive was organized by the Volunteer Administrators Network and staffed by more than 100 volunteers from community groups and organizations across the county. Cooperating supermarkets included Giant Eagle in Rootstown and Acme in Kent and Stow-Kent. Donations of food for volunteers helping with the food drive came from Dunkin Donuts, Giant Eagle Ravenna, Culligan Water Conditioning, Subway, Mom and Jerry's Pizza, Siciliano's Pizza and Guido's Restaurant. Special thanks go to the hundreds of good-hearted individuals who donated food or money to help their neighbors. Once again you have responded to a plea for help with generosity and caring. Please accept our heartfelt thanks and appreciation. Anne Lofaro Chair Change Hunger of Portage County Comments
