Two men are awaiting a hearing in Stow Municipal Court after police charged them in connection with a fatal hit-skip case that killed a Ravenna motorcyclist in September.

Michael K. Hull, 48, of Ravenna was injured Sept. 15 when a trailer became unhitched from a vehicle and rolled into the path of his motorcycle on Interstate 480 in Twinsburg. He died Sept. 30.

Police arrested Ricky L. Melton, 55, of Stow, and Michael H. Rusu, 54, of Akron Monday and charged them with involuntary manslaughter, theft and receiving stolen property. Melton, who police say was driving, was also charged with failure to stop at an accident.

Twinsburg Police Sgt. Greg Feketik said Melton and Rusu allegedly stole a trailer from a Twinsburg business on Sept. 15. While they were traveling eastbound on I-480 just east of S.R. 91, the trailer became unhitched from their vehicle, crossed the median when Hull struck it. Hull was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the westbound lanes, where police say he was struck by two other vehicles.

Melton and Rusu continued traveling east on I-480 without stopping, police said.

Hull was flown to Akron City Hospital where he died Sept. 30 from his injuries, according to police.

Feketik said Twinsburg police contacted Melton after discovering that the license plate on the trailer, which was in the police department’s possession, belonged to him.

Melton and Rusu went to the Twinsburg Police Department Monday to talk to police and were arrested and charged.

They were arraigned Tuesday at Stow Municipal Court. Bond was set at $500,000 for each.

As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
whithout watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and
bread from the eater,
so is my world that goes outh from my mouth
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I deserve
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it
~Isaiah 55:10-11

Sincerely
Rick Sell

My name is Ted Kost I own Atwater Nursery, I knew Ricky Melton very well he was one of the best workers that I had. The only thing that saddens my heart about this tredgedy is to see how his boy turned out. That is the only crime I have seen that he ever done. He stayed and worked 3 long years at a job that he hated to make sure his son had a roof over his head. It says in the bible Honor our father and the only thing I can see he had done wrong was not raise his child in a church. Obviouslly this man does not know his father. The Kost family to send there condolescences to all of the familes that were involved in this tradgey. But we all know that life can change at a blink of an eye. I only hope that our community can show sympathy and love and the time of the families need. With this I am going to say a prayer for his son who has all the hate he has for his father. May god rest his soul. And may god rest the soul of the family who lost a loved one. And may god put peace in this mans sons heart. Many condolecence to everyone involved. Sincerely Tim Kost Atwater Nursery.

I want to say first...my heart goes out to the Hull family. I cant express my feelings enough to how you are surving this tragidy. I personally know Melton and Rusu. I first want to say EVERYTHING YOU READ IN THE PAPER IS NOT SO. BOTH OF THESE MAN HAVE BEEN CHARGED NOT CONVICTED!! You can specualte on what you like but until the trial no one really knows what happened. I can say that I lost my daughter 3 years ago and Ricky was there everyday with me and he is good to me and my family. As for his son, I was not around I do not know, I feel for him for having such hatred for his father...no matter what the bible says honor your mother and father. He may hate his dad for other things I dont know. I didnt live his life. But as for the other...everyone has an opinion and when the facts come out justice will prevail. If Melton and Rusu did do this no court and anyone will have pay the price they will have on judgement day. IF YOU READ THE ARTICLES AND TWINSBURG POLICE SAID THIS WAS ACCIDENT! A horrible accident that took a life. No one can judge someone on there past ...its up to GOD to do that. My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. Hull. This is tragic, but everyone can bad mouth a gossip it still will not bring this man to life. Anyways pray to god that justice will prevail.

What a terrible tradegy. I'm sorry for Mr. Hull's family and saddened that these two crime spree individuals are walking the streets to cause such a horrific incident to an innocent party. Congratulations Jr., I am happy to see that you have learned that isn't who you want to be. Somebody has done a good job with you. They should be proud.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Mr. Hull.

You should call yourself Ron Moron. Are you trying to be a Defense Attorney for the two worthless pieces of Sh_t that killed Mr.Hull.Maybe if they weren't in such a hurry leaving the job site with the STOLEN trailer, they would have properly secured said trailer.

Please go to www.dangeroustrailers.org ozzy... we feature him.

I just saw the most recent article... now they are saying a Tractor Trailer came loose...

Not true....it was a UTILITY TRAILER!!! Why is the newsmedia changing the type of vehicle that came loose and took the life of Mr. Hull?

It is the Utility Trailer industry with no standards and now the media that is trying to hide the facts.

I urge all people who knew Mr. Hull... Don't let this happen!!

Find out the facts...

all i see is comments about the two idiots the killed mike hull, let me tell you a little about mike. Mike was one of the greatest men i have ever met. He was a great father, he raised two kids by himself. He put both of them through college with no help from thier mother!! and i mean no help! Now those kids dont have either parent. Mike Hull had a huge heart, he helped anyone who asked or needed help, a great person to look upto. He was honest, hard working, and so kind hearted. Mike hull was the kind of person that stopped at his parents house daily to check on them and make sure the did not need anything, he always put his family first. Mike worked for the same company for 30 years (you dont see that much any more) WOW WHAT A GREAT MAN!!!!

Ricky was rotten when I met him when we were 10 years old. We became buddies back then, even though the first time I met him he kicked my butt for no reason. My mom moved us from East Akron to Firestone Park when I was 11 just to get me away from him. It's sad to see he never changed. Thanks Mom.

Here's a My Space link to a pic of Ricky. A real piece of work.

Junior, I don't think anyone would fault you if you got a name change. Congratulations for making something of your life considering the dad life dealt you.

Junior makes some very good points and sadly that is the reality that many young men today face. No father in their life. It seems like this young man has managed to see the errors of his fathers behavior. Maybe the guy should have spent more time figuring out how to be a better father than a better criminal.
Any man can father a child but it takes a special man to be a "Dad". Seems like junior is smart enough to stop the cycle of carelessness that his "donor" exhibits in life.

When I heard this on the radio I was in shock. I have a son in college who wants to get a motorcycle and I am scared to death. I almost got killed on one when I was in my second year of college and barely walked away. I am so sorry for the familys of this young man and I sure do hope the punishment fits the crime.
