Probation for rabbit drowning: Ravenna Township woman fined, given community serviceNovember 20, 2009
From Staff Reports A Ravenna Township woman charged in the drowning of two rabbits at a Chapel Hill Mall pet store in Akron pleaded guilty this week and was sentenced to probation in Akron Municipal Court Thursday. Akron City Prosecutor Doug Powley said Liz Carlisle, 20, of 3146 Pondview Drive, pleaded guilty to two counts of animal cruelty. She received a $250 fine and will perform 120 hours of community service. Powley said Carlisle will be placed on six months probation. He added the probation department will determine if Carlisle receives counseling. Carlisle was charged in August with the two misdemeanor charges after she allegedly boasted on Facebook about drowning the animals. She was scheduled to go on trial in December.
