The Portage County Chapter of NAACP honored James Geisey of Kent with its Distinguished Service Award at the 2010 annual Martin Luther King Prayer Breakfast. The event received a significant gift from the Ravenna One Fund to invite young people to learn more about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King. On hand for the ceremony are, from left, Angela Giddens, NAACP secretary; the Rev. Eddie Renfroe, NAACP president; Dr. Surinder Bhardwaj, Geisey's longtime friend who presented the award; Barbara Geisey, James' wife; Geisey; the Rev. Deborah Austin, NAACP member who organized the breakfast; and Arthur Johnson, NAACP vice president. Geisey is chapter treasurer. Portage County Commissioner Chuck Keiper participated in the award presentation. Comments
