ia (Alger) Ritter, 91, peacefully entered Life Eternal on Feb.3, 2010 at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna, Ohio. Rachel was born May 29, 1918 in Mantua, Ohio. She was the youngest of four children of Clifford and May (Kent) Alger. She graduated from Ravenna Township High School and was employed by Seyfried's Isaly Dairy in Ravenna and Lamb Electric Company in Kent. Rachel became the bride of Wilson A. Ritter on September 17, 1946 and they made their home in Kent. She was a member of The United Church of Christ of Kent and the Fidelis Circle. Gardening and spending time with family and friends brought her joy. Her many nieces, nephews, and their children happily recall visits playing on the old tire swing, picking apples at the Ritter family orchard, feeding the chickens, and learning about the wild birds at her feeder. Rachel was also an excellent cook. Everyone enjoyed her cakes, pies, pickles, and especially her wild strawberry freezer jam! She is lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her nephews, nieces and their children: David Alger, Eastsound, WA; Roland (Mary) Novac, Redmond, WA; Donald (Margaret) Novac, Reno, NV; James (Toni) Seyfried, Columbus, OH; Jeanne (Kenneth) Murray, Brookville, OH; Nancy Alger, Moraine, OH; Linda Hutchinson, Austin, TX; and Sally (Richard) Lott, Ravenna, OH. In addition to her parents and husband, Rachel was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses: Earl (Shirley) Alger, Lucille (Stanley) Novac, and Pauline (Wilbert) Seyfried and her nephews Earl Kent Alger and Curtis Hutchinson. The family gratefully thanks the dedicated staff of Longmeadow Care Center and Crossroads Hospice for their excellent care, loving concern, and support given to our Aunt. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no calling hours. A private Memorial and Inurnment Service at Standing Rock Cemetery for the family will be held at a later time. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home. Please share your memories at www.mem.com. (Wood-Kortright-Borkoski 330-296-6436 R-C 2-7-10 & 2-8-10)
