Portage County Common Pleas Court Judge Laurie Pittman recently was re-elected to serve a fourth consecutive term as secretary to the Judicial Advisory Board of the North East Ohio Community Alternative Program. NEOCAP is a community-based, alternative sentencing corrections facility for common pleas courts in Portage, Geauga, Lake, Ashtabula and Trumbull counties. The facility's Judicial Advisory Board appoints members to NEOCAP's governing board and advises the board on issues of importance to the courts regarding services and programs provided by the facility. Each year an average of 360 felony offenders are sentenced to NEOCAP's 125-bed correctional facility in Warren for varying lengths of terms. The program has an 89 percent successful completion rate. Pittman has been the advisory board's secretary since 2007and a member of the advisory group since 2006. She has served as a Portage County Common Pleas Court judge since 2005.
