Kent Schools Hall of Fame induction set: Tickets available for April 10 dinner event

Tickets are available for the Kent City Schools Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony, which will be held Saturday, April 10, to honor individuals from the Class of 2009 and 2010. 

The Hall of Fame program will be held at Theodore Roosevelt High School.

All community members are welcome. Doors open at the high school at 5 p.m., dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the induction ceremony in the Richard Roberts Auditorium starts at 7:30 p.m. 

Tickets for the buffet dinner catered by the Rusty Nail are $35. Call Superintendent Joe Giancola’s office at 330-676-7610 for information or send a check payable to Kent City Schools to Hall of Fame, 321 N. Depeyster, Kent, OH 44240. 

Those choosing to attend only the 7:30 p.m. induction ceremony do not need tickets. 

Inductees in the Class of 2009 include Roy Apseloff, Errol Prisby, David Hassler, Joshua Brown and Mary B. Walker. Those selected for the Class of 2010 include Michael Peoples, Erica Liebelt, Jerry Brown, Ronald P. Brown, Robert Waters, Ken Cardinal, Gladys Moore Montgomery and Loris Troyer. 

Amy Herriff Stauffer is the first recipient of the new Kent Heritage Award, which recognizes contributions of graduates of Kent Central High School, the predecessor of Roosevelt.

Established in 1999, the Hall of Fame recognizes graduates of Theodore Roosevelt High School and others who have made exceptional achievements in their field or unique contributions to the Kent community. Permanent plaques commemorating each honoree are displayed in the Roosevelt auditorium atrium.  

A 15-member committee of school and community members made the final selections.

The late Joshua Brown is the father of Jerry Brown and the uncle of the late Errol Prisby, whose mother is Joshua's sister.

From what I have heard Joshua Brown and Errol Prisby are related. Joshua being the uncle and Errol is the nephew.........
