STREETSBORO -- Fire department investigators are looking into a blaze that recently destroyed a vacant barn on S.R. 43.

Streetsboro Fire Department spokesman Kevin Grimm said firefighters responded shortly after 5 p.m. March 12 to a report of smoke coming from a vacant barn in the 10200 block of S.R. 43.

Grimm said a nearby resident reported seeing a car pull in to the property and people around the barn. A short time later, after the car left, the resident saw smoke and called the fire department.

Flames consumed the structure, which Grimm said was a total loss. The property had been vacant for some time, he said, and was "very overgrown." Streetsboro firefighters were on scene for three hours, Grimm said.

No firefighters were injured, and the cause remains under investigation.

"We're not sure if it's accidental, or if someone was there with ill intentions," Grimm said.

Anyone with information on the blaze is asked to call the Streetsboro Fire Department at 330-626-4664.
