a, Jr. James V. Caniglia, Jr., 64, of Streetsboro passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at his residence. He was born August 26, 1945 in Akron, Ohio to the late James V. and Jane (Randall) Caniglia, Sr. Jim has lived in Streetsboro since 1998 and was formerly of Ravenna and Kent. He retired from the Garrettsville School System where he taught physical education and also coached football and wrestling. After retirement, he worked as a starter for Boulder Creek Golf Course and was a funeral attendant for Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes in Ravenna and Streetsboro. Jim had played football and wrestled at Kent Roosevelt High School and at Muskingham College, where he played in the Grantland Rice Bowl in 1967. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Ravenna and the Ravenna Elks BPOE 1076. James enjoyed playing golf, fishing and woodworking. Survivors include his wife Sandy (Cowan) Caniglia whom he married in 1981, sons Jeff (Wendy) Caniglia of Loveland, Ohio, J.D. (Stephanie) Langguth of Rootstown, Ohio, daughters Kristin (Courtney Buse meyer) Caniglia of Cincinnatti, Stacy (Walt) Maffei of Leonardtown, Maryland, grandchildren Alexis, Valerie, James, Derek, Katelynn, Erin, Anthony, Grace, Sam, Summer, Christopher, Julia, Lucas, and sister Theresa (John) Vogel of Myrtle Beach, SC. Calling hours will be Friday March 19, 2010 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and again from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home in Ravenna. Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday March 20, 2010 at the First Congregational Church in Ravenna with Rev. Mark Simone officiating. Memorials may be made in James Caniglia's name to the scholarship fund at the First Congregational Church at 266 S. Chestnut St., Ravenna, Ohio.
