Former Ravenna residents Donald and Nancy Reppart recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. To commemorate this event, a party was held in their honor at the Wooster Church of the Nazarene.

Donald Reppart married Nancy Jean Bohon in Elkins, W.Va., on Dec. 25, 1959. In their original ceremony, they were guided by typed scripts to follow along.

A ceremony was conducted on Dec. 5, 2009, by Douglas Smart in American Sign Language where Donald and Nancy were able to renew their wedding vows, take part in Communion, and light a unity candle.

In attendance were their oldest son, Douglas Reppart of Cuyahoga Falls, and his daughter, Jessica, and their youngest daughter, Susan, and her husband, Paul Dorando, with their children, Samuel and Cianna.

Also attending were Donald's brothers and sisters-in-law, John Reppart and his wife, Rochelle, of Berrien Springs, Mich., Joseph Reppart and his wife, Polly, of Erie, Pa., and Phillip Reppart and his wife, Cynthia, of Wooster.

Donald retired from the Akron Beacon Journal after 35 years of service and he and Nancy reside in North Canton with their brood of Chihuahuas.
