How big a deal? Ask Joe Biden

WASHINGTON — Leave it to Vice President Joe Biden to add a little, ahem, flair to the signing of a health care bill affecting millions of people.

“This is a big f------ deal,” Biden told President Barack Obama after introducing him at Tuesday’s ceremony at the White House.

Biden appeared to be offering that perspective to Obama privately, but his remark was captured on audio and video.

The episode quickly got buzz on the Internet.

Biden has a reputation of verbal slips, and he knows it.

The White House response to this one? Embrace it.

“And yes Mr. Vice President, you’re right,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said in a post, or “tweet,” on Twitter, the social networking site.

The views expressed by harvey10 are his alone and do not reflect the views (or manner of expression) of the greater Portage County community. I hope.

TO ALL: on Friday at 3:00 on the Mike Trivisanno WTAM 1100 he is going to have some healthcare bill experts on his show. This isn't going to be a debate, or political wrangling he promises that it will just be informative.

Another couple things that is so GREAT about this "reform".The ability of the federal government to go into your bank account for funds for medical payments.

Also, hope you don't like paying for someone elses abortion because your premiums will go to pay for them if those people are in your insurance company and abortions are covered by them.

averagejoe~Another couple things to add,one premiums won't go down as promised. Some will pan out, most will get higher, and a small percentage will have theirs go down.Premiums will rise no stopping it.

The legislation calls for a research center to see what kinds of treatments, medications and technologies are worth the cost.Sounds like government health care rationing to me.

Yeah,it's crap pretty soon our government is going to be so "european" and fall right into what the U.N. wants for us.I can hardly wait for the next government "ordered" bill that's going to be passed restricting me even further.

Yes, this is a big deal. I just wish our Vice President has a little more class.

As for this law, it will be challenged in the Supreme Court. To require a person to purchase a service from a private entity, is definitely on Constitutional grounds.

Yes, this will allow you to carry your children on your healthcare insurance until age 26. Yes, the insurance companies will not be able to deny you for pre existing conditions. Yes this law will remove lifetime maximums from insurance policies.

No, It does not cap the cost of insurance. While it states policies cannot exceed 150% of the standard policy, it says absolutely nothing about the cost of a standard policy. Prepare for the most drastic rate increases of you life. It may very well be cheaper to pay the $750 fine.

Think I am wrong? Take a look at the late 1980's when auto insurance in Ohio became mandatory. I know, my premium tripled. If you were around then, you know I am right.

Here is another way they are proposing to pay for this. They are going to discontinue the tax deduction folks get for their homes.

When they ax programs like these does it count as a tax hike?

Believe what you want KS. They are cutting $500B dollars from medicare they are cutting the discount on prescription drugs and the baby boomers will be the biggest drain on these programs ever. The math doesn't work to keep medicare services viable. I think it's a good idea to let people die with dignity and not keep them alive forever on oxygen machines and feeding tubes. We are spending way to much on that and chilren that are born with severe diformaties and retardation.

Helspont isn't it crazy that the Libs were screaming about freedoms being taken away when Bush was president. Now that Obama has strengthened the freedoms Bush took away, it is okay. Now this.
