Local ghost hunters will get the chance to explore one of downtown Kent's haunts during an overnight ghost hunt and psychic fair this weekend.

The Kent Stage will open its doors Friday to area ghost hunters and psychics looking to explore and experience the theater's haunted reputation.

Ghost stories about the stage include its other-worldly caretaker, who resided in a dark room beneath the main stage in the basement of the theater. And throughout the years, stories have persisted of apparitions in the theater.

The night will begin with local psychic-medium Laura Lyn explaining what she sees around participants, who will be able to question Lyn about her readings. Lyn's "Ask the Psychic" will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The psychic fair will take place from 8 to 11 p.m. Visitors can take part in psychic readings or shop for "metaphysical" products.

Those with greater curiosity can stay for the ghost hunt, which will take place from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Louis Charles, author of "Helping Ghosts: A Guide to Understanding Lost Spirits," will discuss communicating with the dead.

Tickets for "Ask the Psychic" are $5. Admission to the psychic fair is $10, and admission to the overnight ghost hunt, including the psychic fair, is $30. Tickets are available at the door, by calling 330-677-5005 or online at www.kentstage.org.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own ghost-hunting tools, such as audio recorders, still cameras and video cameras.

"I have heard many stories of ghost hunts that haunt the old Kent Stage," Lyn said. "We are excited to see what each person experiences during the ghost investigation."
