The Fashion School at Kent State University recently hosted its annual spring fashion show entitled "The Time is Now."

Traditionally a showcase of the senior fashion designers' portfolio collections, the show has been revamped in the past couple of years to represent the culmination of the entire fashion school's body of work.

Senior co-producers Laura Toomey and Brittany Mizelle started work on the production at the beginning of the fall semester.

Selecting numerous student committees, the two oversaw the entire fashion show production from conception to presentation.

Everything from model selection to set design is created by the students and is meant to be an exercise in real-world fashion show production.

This year's set design featured a V-shaped runway and unique lighting design.

A major trend in garments included vintage-style peplum dresses in an array of different fabrications and colorways, lace, furs, jumpsuits and pastel color stories.

Highlights of the show included Vanecia Kirkland's interpretation of tribal and ethnic prints.

Iana Guerlimova's first garment featured a fur hood that was transformed to a purse right before the audience. Her collection was an array encompassing fur, leather and tweed to complete her garments.

Staci Moening's collection had a rock-'n'-roll feel, with a rouched floor-length coat and shoes with a hair-like texture that stole the show.

Nicole Sciria impressed with an innovative sandblast technique that blended her black and white collection.

Also notable was Chelsea Eck's play on proportions, blending bubble skirts and exposed zippers into her playful collection.

Samantha Hawkins' citrus shades mixed with beige-y neutrals for a departure from the tulle ruffles and pastels.

Kelsey Mclellan's retro jumpsuit was complete with braided belt and vintage style hat.
