Edsel Vanhorn, 72, of Tuscumbia, Alabama died Friday, August 15, 2008. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at Cherokee Memorial Park. Chris Kemp and Gary Puryear will officiate. Mr. Vanhorn was a native of Shock, West Virginia. He retired as plant manager of Robbins Tire and owner/ operator of Big V Tree Service. He was a member of Florence Blvd. Church of Christ. He was a loving Christian husband, father, and grandfather. He had served the church as both a deacon and elder. He had a great work ethic and instilled strong family values. He had a great way of making all that knew him feel better. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Preceding him in death were his wife, Wilda Ruth Vanhorn, daughter, Lydia Ruth Vanhorn, grandson, Jonathan Vanhorn, and brother, Ernest Vanhorn. Mr. Vanhorn is survived by his sons Edward Allen Vanhorn (Donella) of Garretsville, Ohio, Kenneth Edsel Vanhorn (Robin) of Tuscumbia, and Michael Lynn Vanhorn (Amy) of Tuscumbia; daughter Brenda Jean Vanhorn Hone (Ricky) of Tuscumbia; brother Hensel James Vanhorn of Grantsville, West Virginia; sister Delma Vanhorn Thompson, Lima, West Virginia; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
