Donald B. Lester, 79 years of age of Mantua, was Our gift to God on Sunday August 24, 2008, as he was surrounded by those who loved and cherished him. Mr. Lester was God's gift to us on May 13, 1929 in Panther, West Virginia the son of the late Avery and Bertha (Vance) Lester. A resident of the Mantua area since 1959, he retired in 1988 after 32 years of employment at Chrysler Stamping Plant in Twinsburg where he was a supervisor. A veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Air Force, he was a member of the National American Legion No. 888. Mr. Lester was an avid golfer, a dedicated member of the Mantua Country Baptist Church and a 32nd Degree Mason being a member of Mantua Masonic Lodge No. 533 F. & A.M. He also was a CB enthusiast during the CB craze of the 1970's. On March 17, 1951 he married his beloved wife Viola (Bailey) Lester whom survives at their home. Also surviving are his sons Donald Ray (Debbie) Lester of Mantua and James Arvison (Deshel) Lester of Burton; brothers Glenn of Mantua and Larry (Charmaine) Lester of Mentor, Ohio; sisters Gerald Lester of Mantua, Ann Rouzer of Nelsonville, Ohio and Evelyn (Tom) Galinac of Mayfield Village and his loving granddaughters Ashley (James) Stewart, Kaitlin and Kristen Lester and Faith (Matthew) Zimmerman. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at the Green Family Funeral Home & Crematory Service in Mantua, with Masonic Services Wednesday at 5:45 P.M. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Murray Bay officiating. Final resting place will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shalersville with pallbeareers Glenn, Larry, Chadd and Todd Lester, Matt Zimmerman, Jimmy Stewart, Tom, Richard and Tommy Galinac and Matt Hull carring him to his place of rest where full military honors will be provided. Memorial donations are suggested to either the Mantua - Shalersville Fire Department Rescue Squad or to the Mantua Country Baptist Church.
