Elmer Hue Bishop, Jr., 51 of Columbia, South Carolina, passed away at home on August 5, 2008 after a brief battle with a rare form of heart cancer. Elmer was born on January 27, 1957 in Ravenna, Ohio to the late Delores C. and Elmer H. Bishop, Sr. Elmer graduated from Ravenna High School. Attended Kent State University, Hiram University and obtained a Master's Degree in Engineering from South Carolina University. He was employed at Allen University as IT Director. He also was self-employed as a computer technology consultant. He served in the United States Air Force and Navy. He is survived by his son, Elmer H. Bishop, III (Trey) of Columbia, S. Carolina: brother, Antoine D. Bishop of San Pedro, California; sister: Tina M. Bishop of Ravenna; uncles, Herman (Lee) Counts of Ravenna; Calvin Bishop of Kileen, Texas; aunts: Lois Reeves of Columbia, S. Carolina; Katherine Ellis of Bronx, New York; Ann Bishop of Goodyear, Arizona. Cremation has occurred, and the final resting place will be in Pomeria, S. Carolina. Friends will be received at a memorial service on Saturday, September 6, 2008 at 1:00 p.m., at the New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 6728 Adams Street, Ravenna.
