How refreshing is Sheriff David Doak's idea of how to take care of a deficit for his department. I applaud Sheriff Doak for taking a pay cut of 5 percent to help his deputies remain on the job. I think that other department heads could take a hint from his lead as to how to help their departments. I think the Portage County commissioners should have taken the lead in this. Good thinking, Sheriff Doak. I wonder, too, why there are lights on -- lighting up the sky -- at the prosecutor's building? Surely they are not trying to spot enemy planes. Or are they? What a waste of taxpayers' money. Donald Reed Ravenna Comments
