Lauds choice of Taylor by Kasich

Share_print Print Story    |    Comments    |

John Kasich has chosen an impressive running mate with his selection of Auditor of State Mary Taylor.

When Taylor served southern Portage and Summit counties as state representative for the 43rd Ohio House District, she clearly put principle ahead of partisanship. Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder threatened to remove Mary Taylor from the Finance and Appropriations Committee if she did not vote for the sales tax increase proposed by Governor Taft. Taylor stuck to her guns and voted against the tax increase. Householder then removed her from the powerful Finance Committee.

Taylor felt her promise to the people in the 43rd District was more important than the demands of Governor Taft and Speaker Householder.

Time and again Taylor has suggested reform in Medicaid and more that other states have tried that would save Ohio hundreds of millions of dollars. Governor Strickland has ignored these proposals and has led Ohioans into budget shortfalls instead. It is time to end this era of poor leadership, high taxes and higher regulations that create an environment that it is hostile to Ohio employers.
