SHALERSVILLE A township family was forced to relocate Saturday following an early morning fire at their Infirmary Road residence.
According to the Mantua-Shalersville Fire Department, a call was received at 8:15 a.m. Saturday for a report of a fully involved structure fire at 9329 Infirmary Road, Lot D8.
Upon arrival, fire crews found a single wide trailer engulfed in flames. All of the occupants of the home had already evacuated the building safely, according to fire crews.
The Mantua-Shalersville Fire Department was assisted in extinguishing the blaze by an engine and manpower from the Streetsboro Fire Department. The Garrettsville-Freedom-Nelson Joint Fire District also had been called but were canceled while en route to the scene.
Seven firefighters remained on the scene until it was cleared 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
Trailers on either side of the one which had caught on fire suffered heat damage to the siding and windows.
The Portage Summit Chapter of the American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist the family.
Damage has been estimated at approximately $25,000 and the trailer is a total loss.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and remains under investigation.
