Wary of Ritter

May 7, 2008

I read Monday's Record-Courier and was shocked to see that a man arrested as a sexual predator of minors was speaking at the anti-war protest in Kent on Sunday, May 4. The community should have been warned that he was in town, but there he was, speaking publicly as an expert for the anti-war movement. Why would anyone trust this man?
This man is Scott Ritter and I remembered his name because of his very public activities, such as:
his 180-degree turnaround on the Iraq War from hawk to dove
his work as a United Nations weapons inspector
his arrest for soliciting minors for sex
Anyone can look up his very public history by searching the Internet as I did. There are many articles, including several from mainstream sources rather than from radical right or radical left sources.
Watch out for your kids for he may still be in town.

(Editor's note: Ritter was arrested in 2001 in an Internet chat room sex sting involved a 16-year-old girl. The charge later was dropped.)
