Helen Rose Szakacs Svetlecih, age 84, of Terrell Road, Franklin, NC formerly of Streetsboro, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Thorpe, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Steve and Helen Dolgas Kruchio. She was first married to Frank Szakacs who passed away in 1981 and second to John J. Svetlecih who passed away in 2003. She was a homemaker and a memer of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Streetsboro, Ohio. Helen was well known for baking wedding cakes in Portage County, Ohio. She also enjoyed playing the violin, organ and quilting. She is survived by her two sons, Frank Szakacs, III of Streetsboro, Ohio and William Szakacs of Otto, NC; her sister Marge Little and her husband, Bob of Mantua, Ohio. Eight grandchildren and sex great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Kulina. Funeral services were held Monday, January 7 in the Chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home with Father Matthew Kauth officiating. Burial has taken place at Woodlawn Cemetery.
