Michael W. Heigelmann, age 48 of Rootstown, passed away as a result of an accident while hunting on Friday, October 24, 2008. Born June 11, 1960, in Akron, Ohio, a son of Wolfgang and Gisela (nee Halter) Heigelmann, he graduated from Rootstown High School and was a resident of Rootstown for 38 years. Michael belonged to St. Peter of the Fields Parish. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and loyal friend. He was a Meat Cutter at Giant Eagle in Hudson. Mike was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. Survivors include his wife of 17 years Jean M. (nee Kovac) Heigelmann, his two sons Brandon and Matthew, his parents Wolfgang and Gisela Heigelmann of Rootstown, his brothers Volker (Georgia) Heigelmann of Florida, and Norman (Eileen) Heigelmann of Mogadore; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Wood-Kortright- Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend David Misbrener on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Peter of the Fields Church, 3487 Old Forge Rd., Rootstown.
