Rudolph Malandro, age 86, died at Hospice of the Valley in Scottsdale, Arizona on Friday, October 23, 2009 of a massive stroke. Rudy was born March 8, 1923 in the town of New Castle, Pennsylvania to Angelina Ludovici and Eugene Malandro. He served in the military during WWII from 1943-1946, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He married Josephine Rose Blundo, on April 2, 1947. They were happily married for 50 years until Josephines death in March 1997. Rudy passionately pursued his education and received his bachelors degree from Westminster College in 1948 and his Certified Public Accounting Certificate in 1960. He received his Doctorate of Philosophy degree in accounting in 1964 from the University of Pittsburg. Rudy began his career teaching at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan. He was then recruited by the FBI in 1955 and reported to Quantico, Virginia for training as a special agent. After serving in the FBI, he joined the faculty at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, and later became the Chairman of the Accounting Department. Rudy was affectionately called The King by family and close friends. He was known for his ability to rule with kindness, generosity, games, and fun-loving teasing. He is survived by his three daughters and eight grandchildren. Rudy will be laid to rest in a private service at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
