The Nature Conservancy plans to work at Flatiron Lake Bog in Portage County from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 14 to eliminate invasive plants from the preserve.
This preserve is accessible only on project days by registered volunteers or by special permit.
This project offers volunteers an opportunity to see one of the oldest kettle-hole bogs in the country.
Advance registration is required. Volunteers may register at www.nature.org/ohio/volunteer. Details and meeting location will be e-mailed by Nov. 12.
Those attending will either use backpack sprayers to apply herbicide to garlic mustard or use loppers and saws to cut invasive plants and apply herbicide to the remaining stumps. Knee-high rubber boots are recommended for the garlic mustard project.
