Katrina Summers of Garrettsville has been chosen by her Ohio Military Reserve unit as Battalion Soldier of the Year. In order to be chosen as Soldier of the Year, Ohio Military Reservists must clearly demonstrate skill proficiency and dedication to duty beyond the reccomended standard. Corporal Summers is assigned as a Military Policeman at the Ohio National Guard Armory in Alliance with Comapany A 1st Battalion 1st Civil Support & Sustainment Brigade. Ohio Military Reservists drill one weekend a month and one week annual training a year to Army and Ohio National Guard standards. The Ohio Military is a State Defence Force under the Adjutant Generals Department. The Ohio Military Reserve augments National Guard and Emergency Management Agency missions within the State of Ohio during times of manmade or natural disasters.
